Project Architect

Richard worked as a Project Architect on this project during his time as an Associate at Alan Higgs Architects in London.

The project involved a new kitchen and dining space addition to an existing Georgian Terrace Town House in salubrious Notting Hill. Sophisticated clients had a brief that required further accommodation to cater for their expanding family. They had a desire and appreciation for the heritage values that their house contained, yet a desire for the new space to reflect their busy, modern London lifestyle.

A bespoke design kitchen 'wall' serves as a backdrop to the new family dining area. Fully opening doors make the most of the connection to a constrained external area and a pop up clerestory latern light maximises the natural daylight into the new additional space. Visual and circulation connections are maintained through to the original ground floor accommodation, connecting the old with the new.
