Richard, the principal director, was originally trained in the United Kingdom and is now registered as an architect in Australia as well as the United Kingdom. Richard first came to Tasmania in 2003, bringing an international design training and experience. The practice continues to operate within Australia and overseas.
Richard Nicholls Architect has extensive experience in restoration and major refurbishment of heritage buildings in Tasmania and the United Kingdom, including working in conjunction with Heritage Tasmania on submissions and implementation of the heritage ‘Works’ application process.
The practice’s principal focus is high quality residential design and interiors. Though we offer a full range of architectural services in other building procurement sectors, including primary, secondary and tertiary education, commercial residential and property development.
We maintain our high professional standards, integrity and ethics through a structured administrative framework, certified quality assurance procedures, pre-qualification with the Department of Treasury and Finance (TAS), Royal Australian Institute of Architects (RAIA) A+ practice membership, registration with the Architects Registration Board (UK) and the backing of Industry benchmarked Professional Indemnity and Public Liability Insurance.
